Straighter Teeth, Metal-Free with Clear Aligners

Ditch the hassle, discomfort, and look of metal braces with the ease and comfort of clear aligners instead. With clear aligners, you lower the risk of gum disease and eliminate the discomfort of metal wires associated with traditional braces. Also, you don’t have to worry about cleaning around wires and brackets. Using a series of clear trays, you can get the results you desire without the ugly and cumbersome hardware of braces.  If you are looking to have aligners created to correct your teeth, the McDonogh Dental Associates team is ready to help you achieve a straighter smile.

How Do Clear Aligners Work?

This treatment gradually moves teeth similar to metal braces, except it uses a series of plastic, clear trays. You will wear each set for approximately two weeks, for 22 hours a day,  before opening and wearing the next set. Treatment can take anywhere from 6 to 18 months. All the while, your smile remains visible and unobstructed by unsightly brackets.

What Are the Benefits of Clear Aligners?

Proven to be gentler on your teeth and gums than traditional orthodontia, clear aligners can be used to correct:

  • Overbites, underbites, crossbites, and open bites
  • Crooked, crowded, or shifting teeth
  • Tooth gaps

Trays are easy to put on, comfortable to wear, and simple to clean and store when not in use. Since we will provide you multiple sets of trays each time you come in, you will need fewer visits to our office. During your treatment, you may also continue to enjoy the foods you love and care for your teeth as you usually would.

Clear Aligners Are Custom Tailored to Your Teeth

When you first visit our office, our professional team will analyze your smile and create molds of your teeth. Once these molds are ready, we can make your customized series of trays. We will give you a call when your trays are ready to be picked up.

With sets numbered from lowest to highest, it is easy to know which trays to wear and which set comes next. When you arrive to pick up your trays, we will go over the entire procedure of how to wear, care for, and swap out your trays.

Taking Care of Your Clear Aligners

Caring for your new trays could not be easier. Once removed, wash them with a little bit of gentle liquid soap. You can even brush them lightly with a soft bristle brush.

Always use room temperature water. Hot water can warp the plastic, and using cold water can cause the aligners to contract. You should also always use a cleaning agent, as just soaking the trays won’t remove any bacterial build-up.
